6 Comment Hacks That Will Boost WordPress Blog Interactivity

Comments are important for WordPress blogs as they can be seen as one of the indicators of blog success. In another perspective, it can also be the motivator for us, the WordPress bloggers to keep blogging and share new ideas with our readers.

It can be frustrating if after we have put a lot of effort in our WordPress blogs, it seems nobody is interested to be part of our WordPress blogs by leaving comment.

In order to promote more comments by our blog readers, there are few ways that you use and implement into your WordPress blogs. One of the ways is by organizing blog contest which I am currently having in this site which I will announce the winners soon.

Besides having blog contest, we have to focus on improving the interactivity of our WordPress blogs. By improving the element of interactivity, it will help to create a closer relationship between you and your readers which most of the WordPress blogs lack off.

For this post, I would like to share 6 hacks which will help you make to process of leaving comments by your readers to be easier and ensure that your readers will feel appreciated by you for their contributions. Therefore, closer and constructive relationship can be built within your WordPress blogs.

By having huge list of comments, it can be really hard for your readers who plan to read most of the comments and respond to them. It is because it can be confusing as most of the comments look the same.

The best approach that we should take for our readers is not to interrupt the standard flow which most of our blog readers have. It is because by interrupting the flow, it can be confusing your readers and distracts their attentions.

By separating the trackbacks and comments, it will ensure your readers are kept focussed and not being distracted by trackbacks (which can be a lot) while reading the comments.

By promoting to our readers to subscribe our RSS feed to keep them update with our latest blog post, it can reduce the chance of them of leaving comments in our WordPress blog.

Therefore, to increase the chance for them to go to our site and contribute some great comments, it is definitely an appropriate approach by reminding them and this hack will definitely be handy for you.

  1. Great suggestions! Some bloggers fail to see at least some of these tips (for example separating comments with trackbacks)

Or you can use DISQUS as a powerful commenting system if you are too lazy to tweak your WordPress commenting codes

It is good to see you over here, Michael. How is your first experience in Huzzer Magazine? Great?

Yah, I agree with you. Sometimes, bloggers are too focus on creating contents and design of of their blogs. They should put enough attention on other aspects of the blog at the same time

This will ensure that each of the aspects will compliment each others.

    What do you think?

  3. Karl Foxley says:

Great post. I totally agree with your suggestions and I’ve just changed the way my comments are handled to show newest comment first to encourage more involvement from my readers.

    Regards,

    Karl

It’s good to know that the tips that I share above are jhlpful for you.

I agree with your point of view. Sometimes not every changes that are good will be seen as good by others. However, at the same time, one great change can bring us great return although it is being opposed by others.

I think it is best to try something out first and see the feedback in not only long term but also short term/

Failed at implementing latest most recent comment first. Do you have any plugin for that?

  11. Helmi Asyraf (admin) says:

Actually, if you are using the latest WordPress version, you can find the option to let most recent comment first in the discussion setting.

  12. ariff says:

    Yeah. Realized that already. haha~
I got some more comments with this method.
    Thanks a lot!

  13. mike says:

I notice on this site you do not post the most recent comments first. Is there a reason why not?

  14. ariff says:

Usually the most recent comment feature is suitable to be used at blogs that have lots of comment.

People will be more than happy to be the bumped up whenever they leave a comment among lots of other people there

  15. Mike says:

I see. Hopefully one day I’ll have tons of comments. Right now, nothing.

  16. ariff says:

Try leaving comments on some other blogs within your niche. Make friends with them. Sooner or later, they’ll come to your blog.

  17. Mike says:

I’ll try that. I have noticed in my analytics that blogs I comment on send me traffic
